Which Passport To Use For Child With Australian Passport To Leave Thailand?

Featured Replies

My daughter was born in Thailand and has Australian passport and will come to Australia for 1st time. She can also get Thai passport.

Which passport should we use when she leaves Thailand and enters again? Also, will there be an issue if she enters Australia without any stamp for exiting from Thailand?

I'm not sure why this keeps coming up but...

If you are a citizen of a country you enter AND leave that country with your native passport, otherwise you are in the situation of getting a visa for your own country which is illegal.

If you are a citizen you cannot be issued a visa...

So, get the Thai passport, she leaves and reenters LOS on the Thai passport, she enters and leaves Aust on the Aust one.

If questioned about stamps show both, though I doubt you would be.

ALWAYS leave and re-enter Thailand on the Thai passport and similarly always enter and leave Australia on her Australian passport.

The last thing you'd want is your daughter in Thailand on her Australian passport being subject to Thai immigration rules on her length of stay.
