Of course there is a plan to topple this current government.

Wait till they have finished shooting themselves in the foot

and run out of dum-dum bullets,

and then push lightly.

They will fall like dominos.

Isn't it terrible when people use the law. rolleyes.gif

Well normally the alternative is to do it through the ballot box, not a skill they have mastered.

Winning an election does not give one the right to break the law. The job of the opposition is to keep tabs on the government. To do that sometimes requires using the justice system.

It helps if the Justice system is backing you up as they did the democrats in the April 2006 election. In the true spirit of democracy the democrats boycotted the election and bribed small parties to do likewise. In contrast the TRT bribed small parties to contest the election. The Attorney General found the democrats guilty and voted to dissolve the party. In the meantime the Army did their thing and held a coup. Consequently a Junta tribunal cleared abhisit and co. and just for good measure dissolved and banned the TRT members for 5 years. A fine example of the justice system. The PPP were next in the firing line.

It is one of the amazing things on TVF that people think the judiciary is independent and that it is not political. I have yet to see a country where the judiciary is independent and apolitical. It is clear that the same is true in Thailand, in spades, apparently.

As a note regarding your point above, in the time that I have spent in TVF, WRT the judicial coup in 2009 and with all of the commentary about the judiciary just upholding the law, that the PPP broke the law & the courts were upholding the law, etc, everyone seems to gloss over this salient example of rigging the system. People call Thaksin a puppeteer. What is clear is that he is not the only puppet-master on the stage.

The Attorney General found the democrats guilty

The Attorney-General does not adjudicate guilt or innocence.

As for the rest of the post, it might be a good idea to re-read Forum Rule 15 at this point.

This article is further proof, if any were needed, that the previous PM is a liar and a fraud, and is serving interests other than his party's.

Well, at least it's further proof that there's not a decent journalist to be found in these here parts.

So True. Apart from that point, the Army is the one that decides on these types of matters.

"the TRT bribed small parties to contest the election"

And yet you find it strange that TRT were dissolved for this ? Bribery is acceptable ? Punishing it is a distortion of justice ?

"and banned the TRT members for 5 years"

Or applied the law, as others might put it, then PPP went and ignored the same law and, like a couple of other parties, suffered a similar punishment. There was, and still remains, an expectation that some people are above the law, now that would be a distortion of justice.
