One Year Multi-Entry On Non-Immigrant 'O' Visa

Featured Replies

My husband and I both have Non-Immigrant 'O' (other) visas. We got this visa type because our son got a Non-Immigrant 'ED' as he is attending school here. Our visas are valid for 90 days and are due to expire next month, Feb 2012. Not sure if it makes any difference, but we are Australian citizens.

My husband will be applying for a one year extension of stay visa and I will be applying for a one year multiple entry visa.

I will be doing my visa application in Kuala Lumpur. Friends have advised that I need to have deposited 200,000 baht into a Thai bank account for 30 days prior to my application. Other friends have told me that the amount is 20,000 baht but there is no time frame necessary, prior to visa application, i.e. the funds can be deposited the day before the application.

1) Can anyone confirm which, if either, of these scenarios is correct?

2) Is there anything else I need besides my Passport, recent photo, letter from school confirming my son's enrollment, my son's birth certificate? Do I need my marriage certificate or my son's passport?

3) Do I need to complete any paperwork eg. application form, before I leave Thailand, or can this be done in Kuala Lumpur?

As you do not appear to have a basis for such a multi entry visa (your husband is the caretaker) I doubt they will issue. Even a person having a Thai wife must show 100k in bank account to obtain such a visa there. I would suggest you contact Embassy prior to travel to make sure.
