University Area

Featured Replies

I have been to Ching Mai many times but never entered this place. It looks big in the map. I read about some films events held regularly, anyone can give me some info ?

What else can I do inside ? Can I use their restaurants or any facilities if I am not their student ?

Just get out and walk. It's the best way to find out for yourself. Scooters are fine to get around quickly, but you miss most of what is available. The moat area is a one mile square and everything extends from there. Chiang Mai is big enough that you can't learn everything, but small enough that you can walk to just about everywhere.

Ian he is asking about CMU specifically not the Moat area.

The university is open and you can just walk around. The food is crap because it is just cafeteria food but it is edible and cheap. There isn't much on campus though. The area is beautiful there is a nice park up the road before the zoo. On campus the library is nice, there are a few places you can sit and look at the resevoir. Down from the university is the museum and it sometimes has some things to see.

You are right there is a foreign film series that is shown regularly. I don't remember when though. I thought sunday nights but it has been almost a decade since I went to watch them.

Overall, I don't see why tourists come here. There are a few things but it is relatively docile. Great place to live though.
