I am needing to get a couple fillings done and since I am heading over to Thailand in February was wondering approximately what I can expect to pay over there and if it would be worth it for me to hold off till i get there.

I am in Canada and getting this done over here will cost me approx. $300 CAD so around 9000BHT Also....if it is a better deal can anyone recommend any reputable dentists :o

Thanks in advance!

It's cheaper here for sure, but you have to know where to go. In the middle of bangkok it might be even more expensive then in Canada.

Example: I needed a crown: rootcanal treatment, insert of a pin, attachment of crown to pin.

A dentist somewhere in uptown bkk wanted to charge me 12000 baht for rootcanal treatment only. It's been done by a dentist 30km outside bkk and the whole thing cost me 10.000 bht, incl the crown. that also included 4 rootcanal treatments.....

but what do you do when your fillings get problems afterwards? go back to thailand to claim something??

bytheway, stay away from amalgam fillings: 50% mercury, use composite stuff

:o

Yes that is true. That is why I am looking for someone reputable so hopefully I dont have any problems afterwards. Getting a filling is a pretty simple procedure. I don't think that i would get anything more than that done Any idea what fillings cost over there?

And yes....i would definitely get the composite stuff.

never above 1000 bht/filling, assuming it needs to be filled only from one side. If however a tooth is missing sides/broken, then it might go slightly higher. They charge per side/filling. so, your mileage might vary.

Opposite of mahidol (pronounced "mahidon") university in salaya (45min taxi trip from bkk) are a couple of dentist I know of. No idea about the name though, it is all thai written on the window. Dentist speaks english... good luck

I needed a cracked tooth fixed, top and 2 sides price was under 1000 baht ($25 U.S.) Six months previously I used the same dentist to check a minor gum infection (Xray and antibiotics was around 500 baht if I remember correctly.) The dentist was located in Pattaya on Central Pattaya Rd. In January I'll be going back to for another filling or two (different teeth.)

A lot of the dentists are trained in Australia, Britain or the U.S. The dentist and his assistant spoke English pretty good. The dentist I used was recommended by some "full time" Pattaya expats. There are lots of dentists in Pattaya!
