Help Us Give A Children'S Home A Great Day Out

Classic Cars of Lanna - Horizon Village Resort - Quantel Medical - treat the Children of Blessed Home.

On Sunday 29th April Classic Cars of Lanna will undertake their most ambitious charity project yet!

Between 80 and 100 children and helpers from the House of Blessing (Baan Praporn) will be driven by a motorcade of classic cars from their home in Doi Saket to enjoy a lunch and an afternoon out in the Botanical Gardens attached to The Horizon Village Resort.

We have strong sponsorship and media support for this event as we shall have one of the largest parades of classic cars ever seen on the roads of Northern Thailand.

They will convey the children safely to and from the Resort where they will enjoy a delicious lunch followed by a tram ride around the grounds before seeing the Gardens, Lakes and Woodland and visiting the Museum to say nothing of the trips to the Playground and Petting Zoo.

We would like to appeal to owners of classic cars to consider making a commitment to spend a few hours (10 am to 5 pm) in the Doi Saket area giving these children a wonderful day out. ( we're pretty relaxed about what a classic car is - over 20 years old, or an unusual model, and in roadworthy condition about sums it up)

We would also like to find additional sponsors to support the event. We would like the children to receive a goody bag, for example, and will be taking additional measures whilst on the road to ensure everyone's safety. Worthy aims and with many PR opportunities for suitable businesses.

For further details & to sign up for the day please visit the Classic Cars of Lanna website. Check us out and then click on the FORUM to read more about the arrangements and then go to "Contact Us' to sign up.

Thank You

I think its a shame that these wonderful projects are often used as recruiting grounds for Christian missionaries. If they were free of any religious involvement I'd be happy to support,

Not sure what you are getting at. I see no ads to come and be a missionary. The two pages I was able to open only talked about helping youths.

Dont forget the sympathisers on here..

I don't believe there will be a 'missionary" in sight. You will see a number of emthusiastic car crews, quite a lot of media people, about 8 largely volunteer helpers from the home and we hope a lot of happy kids, ranging in age form 4 to 18 years. The home operates like an extended family so many of the older children help look after the younger ones.

Oh - and the range of cars so far includes Alfa Romeos, Jaguars, Lotus, Mercedes-Benz, various sorts of VWs, a selection of Hot Rods and many more...................

A quote from the 'House of Blessing' website:

"We admonish our kids to learn good Christian values through faith, and help them grow in God's knowledge and grace everyday."

I can't believe it. The owners of Suan Tweechol aren't particularly fond of children at their place...

And you consider that recruitment for people to be a missionary.

If people don't want to help that is OK but why try to drag religion into it as the reason?

Good to see Classic Cars of Lanna helping kids along the lines of what we as motorcyclists do as the Chiangmai ToyRide - www.chiangmaitoyride.com

Too bad that I will be out of town on that day, but look forward to attneding one of your events with my 39 street rod.

I trust that you will have a great event and good on you

Hog Head,

We'd love to see you. Come along the last Sunday of every month. We meet at Bistro 1 in NIM CIty Daily from 10.00 am onwards. Street Rods Welcome!

Best of Luck with the Toyride - it's a great job you do there and I like to hear 'The Rolling Thunder" when you all go by.

I will be attending, as I have just purchased a 71 Ford Falcon XY. Amazingly I never knew these cars were assembled in Thailand for the local market.

Just like to reiterate what Hog Head stated above, the Annual CM will be on this Sunday as well, but I dont think too many missionaries ride Harleys or big bikes so they may be a bit thin on the ground!!

I am sure the intention of both events is to make a small difference to the lives of underprivileged children, regardless of color, creed or religion.

This event has absolutely no religious overtones - not Christian, not Buddhist, not Hindu, not Islam - not anything. No sermons, no preaching, no recruitment, no conversions - nothing. Let's not have this topic & wonderful event hijacked by such incorrect & inaccurate assumptions.

The entire focus of this event is for a group of Chiang Mai classic car enthusiasts to give a lot of worthy children a fun day out - nothing more & nothing less. To give the children probably their first 'classic car experience' (aside from maybe a previous ride in the back of a Mazda Familia pickup! :)), have them enjoy a delicious buffet lunch & then enjoy the grounds & attractions of the Horizon Village Resort.

Supporters are most welcome, as are additional sponsors. So if you're interested, full details are at www.classiccarsoflanna.com/april-2012.htm

On behalf of the Chiang Mai ToyRide Committe, Hoghead and myself, we invite you guys to come along on the toy ride Sunday. We would love to have you. Come along on the ride/parade route from Tesco Lotus in the morning, or come directly to the site of the event (see our website) and show off your rides. We would certainly try to reciprocate if it fit in with your agenda (can discuss later).

Regardless, good luck with your event. clap2.gif
