15 Months From A One Year Non O Immigration Visa?

Featured Replies

I am pretty sure this is the case, but if I go with my wife (Filipina) to Laos on the last day of her Non O one year visa, will she get another 90 days in Mae Sai? We need some breathing space as she is pregnant and after the baby is born we will either go to Savvanakhet to get hopefully another Non O for her, or I get a retirement visa and stick her on that. I have a 16 year old Thai son at International school who is dependent on us so we should get one on that basis. The last Non O she got was no problem as we were in the UK. Also, another question... what happens with our baby, born end August (UK passport, no problem there) as far as Thai visas are concerned? He/she will be born in Thailand. Probably the best idea is that I get a retirement visa and stick 'em all on that, but the baby obviously won't have a Non O in his bright shiny UK visa, so not so sure what will happen. If we leave the country and go to Savvanakhet then there is no Thai visa in his/her passport to get out of Thailand. Thanks.

I mean 15 months from a one year Non O visa? You can't seem to rectify your typing mistakes any more!

Yes if you walk over and back at Mae Sai with an active Non Im O (even on the last day) you should get a new 90 day stamp. As to the baby, I believe it (he/she) is covered by the parent's visa initially. You could always do individual walk overs - get a room in Mae Sai and take turns at doing the run while the other cares for babs.

I have no idea what that means but yes she will receive a new 90 day entry for an arrival before expiration date of multi entry non immigrant O visa.

I suspect you mean passport rather than bright shinny visa? The baby can get a visa the same as parents. You can not obtain a retirement visa in Savannakhet if you do not live there, but you likely could get a single entry non immigrant O visa which you could then extend for retirement inside Thailand at immigration after 60 days and then wife/child could get matching extensions if they have non immigrant visa entry.

For edit there should be an edit function available just left of the multi quote in bottom right of post for about 20 minutes but will be dim until you hover over it and click.

Thanks for these replies. Very helpful. Yes I should have put 15 months for.. and not "one month" but as I said in my second post there doesn't seem to be any way to correct an error and even after the reply telling me how to do it, still I couldn't see it and I am sure it wasn't there even for 20 mins after my post.

Anyway, the best way forward fro us is the retirement extension on my Non O, after we get the final 90 days out of the last visa. We survived on getting tourists when we unmarried until we got a Non O from the UK. We did the Vientiane visa run a few times and one Savvanakhet visa run. In Vientiane it was like they just didn't want you there and Savvanakhet was a dream compared. Not sure if we would get a Non O there, but really no need for us to go if we do the retirement extension.

It was first post so believe that is reason you could not find edit. Sorry. Believe the above post will have that option for a time.
