Hi,

I will be going to BKK again next week and a friend told me that if my passport isn't valid for 6 months they might not let me into the country. Being American, I do not need a visa - which would, of course, require a passport that is good for at least six months.

Do I have a problem?

Thanks!

If you are using a US passport you should be ok if you have onward transportation within 30 days. The six month rule is not strictly enforced for US passports.

It is recommended that your p/port is valid for 6 months after

period of stay. However, Thai immigration will accept passports

which are only valid for period of intended stay.

So, I see no problems but would recommend to get a new one asap.

That's reassuring to know - I actually just registered here to ask the exact same question. My wife's passport (UAE - which is on the visa-on-arrival list) is also valid for five months, but we are staying for only two weeks and have confirmed return tickets. Do you think this will be alright?

UAE is on the no visa required list for a 30 day stay and she should not have any trouble as she has the required onward tickets.

Thanks, everybody, for your input.
