New to island and living just of the main road between the Bangkok Samui hospital and the new world gym. I have so far negotiated the songthaew down to Tescos (the Lamai to Nathon route), but wondered if there was one from the main road that goes down to the beach road? I have seen them driving about down there, but wasn't sure if I can catch this route, or even if there is one, from the main road or not!

Surely there are plenty going to Maenam/Bohput and on to Naton

To the OP - i think the ones you see down the beach road in Chaweng are from full load ferry and port pick-ups during the day anyway, at night you can take one down for sure but it all cost a lot more

If you stand on the correct side of the road at either end (Tesco lights or Ohms motorbikes) you'll find one going the right way.

Good idea to have THB 20 to hand as you may not get change from THB 50/THB 100 if you look like a tourist.
