Can anyone confirm whether or not I need to mail my passport along with the form, or can I just bring it to the appointment? The web site is not clear on this.

If I must mail it, can you recommend a good traceable service?

Thanks in advance,

You do not mail anything - not sure where you read that. You print out form and sign it and take that and passport to add the pages and pay at your appointment time.

Procedure to obtain extra visa pages

Complete an application form, DS-4085. Complete and print your online application.

Make an appointment

Submit the application to the American Citizen Services section between 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Pay the required fee. The fee for additional visa pages is $82.

Allow one hour for this service. We can do this while you wait.

STEP 3: Submit Completed Form + U.S. Passport

Mail Form DS-4085 to the address listed on the form, along with:

We strongly encourage applicants to use a mail service which provides
delivery confirmation
when mailing a passport application or any additional documentation to the Department of State

You are not dealing with Department of State in Washington but with the Embassy in Bangkok. That page is for those in the US; not for those in Thailand.

just got passport pages in BKK last week for the 3rd time.. no appointment was necessary.. took about an hour.. Hardest part of the whole process was paying the 82 dollars for what used to be and still should be a FREE service..

Be glad we can still add more pages. Most countries can't anymore (my friends who have UK passports...have to get new ones when the passport is full). Thats why I have a 10 year passport and a 2 year passport - plenty o' pages!

note;

in Thailand they will give u two sets of 24 pages each for one price of $82< ONLY if u have not had other sets added and ur passport is in good condition.

I traveled to Cambodia in Dec and needed new pages, went to the embassy and told them i needed two sets for the one price, They refused!! I was really pissed as i had already paid. Told them that in Bangkok they will give two an she got really mad at me, asked for the supervisor and of course...Told them to give me my money back as i could get the double set in Bangkok an they refused to refund me

SO beware and always ASK

Maximum extra pages is 3 times then u need apply for a new passport

ON the consular visits they will also take ur passport and application and money an then mail it to ya if ur not in Bangkok

interesting to note that BKK ACS allows 3 x extra pages and I went ahead and got a new passport with only 2 x and 18mos left on the validity...it would have been nice to have been advised...

I got my 2nd set of extra pages from ACS in Jeddah and I was advised by them that a 3rd set is not allowed and that a new PP would then be required...

They added extra pages for me in BKK into my last pp, free at the time. 48 pages on my 48 page pp. That was one crazy full 96 page pp.

First it worked like a charm - immigration could not deal with the mess. Then, when the lowered the boom it was a total liability.
