Any Recent Changes To The Procedures For Ilr And Then Onto Uk Citizenship

I haven't kept up to date on this as it is still some time away but I thought I'd ask around and perhaps get some feedback.

Currently she is coming up to 18 months in the UK. She's studying to pass her Life in UK test and is now passing online so a real test is coming up quite soon.

As I understand it, we get to around 2 years (she travelled a day or so after getting visa) in the UK and we send off the £991 for ILR and then wait or pay £1377 for it to be done on the day / within a week sort of thing.

Not sure just what we need to put together for this but I'm sure it is fairly straightforward. Probably some evidences similar to the visa etc.

Then for the UK citizenship it is another year, applying 3 years after you entered and costs £851 http://www.ukba.home...es-feb-2012.pdf Then wait for the ceremony.

When would you be able to get a UK passport ?

Have I misunderstood anything ?

Nope - all looks right. The application form for ILR (SET M) is very straight forward and I found it scary that it was so easy to fill in and provide documentation compared to previous visa applications. Much more straight forward!!

Starting to panic that I did find it too easy as my wife and daughter have been waiting over 18 weeks for what should be a clear cut application. Many others seem to be in the same boat so hopefully it is purely down to the disgraceful state of the UKBA.

Be aware that while you wait they have both the applicants and spouse passports so no holidays abroad and it may make it difficult for the applicant to get a job because of the need for an employer to see that person has a right to work!

Premium all the way!

Lots more money for the government! Make sure the service is so abominable by post that you are forced to pay for premium service!
