Uk Fiancee Visa / Birth Certificate

Featured Replies

Hi,

My fiancee and I are eagerly awaiting an answer from the British Embassy regarding a Fiancee Visa - the company I work for received an email today asking for verification of employment (HR responded very quickly) - anyone know what other checks they carry out after the employment check? (they have had the application 13 working days)

When we receive the answer (and of course we are hoping its a positive)....

Does my fiancee need to apostil her foreign birth certificate before travelling to the UK? She has read that a lot of people do. What is it needed for?

Thank you!

If it is a settlement visa you are applying for then certified English translations of key documents are really useful. It is very expensive to have these done in the UK. I am not sure if they have to be apostille certificates. Most people seem to get on fine with translations stamped as true copies by the translators. The stamps used are generally very impressive, sometimes more than the accuracy of the translation!

The birth certificate translation will be required on many occasions! Anything that you may feel might be useful get translated in Thailand where it is cheap!

I am impressed that they are checking up on applications, About time too! I would take this as a good omen. Good Luck!
