Esteemed forum members.

I have done a search on this and can not find the answer. A friend of mine in the UK (37 yrs with UK border control all round the world assessing visa applications to the UK) is potentially interested in coming to Thailand once a quarter for a couple of weeks and conducting seminars as well as one 2 one consultations for people applying for visas to the UK. The idea being that most Visa agents actually do not have the direct experience of being on the other side of the fence and therefore properly knowing what will work and what will not (aside from their actual experience of applying). So the idea is he comes to town, sets up in a hotel, runs 3-4 work shops for groups and also pre booked one on one chats about direct cases (people could almost show him their completed application and he would say it will pass of fail, and why).

Anyway, the point is, although all the finances etc would be through a Thai registered company, he would want everything above board in relation to legally being able to offer this service. What kind of work permit would he need if at all? He would not be living here, would only fly in, do the seminars etc, and then fly out again. Would a working visa suffice? no residence in my logic means no work permit but he would be working so would need a work permit? I have no idea, but would think that visiting lecturers etc would have the same problem. As said, he would want it all above board and legal.

Your help is appreciated

No residence does not mean no work permit. I suspect he would need the same temporary work permit any part time contract work would require - think expert consultants/entertainers and such who are here a few days/weeks. Can not provide details but believe it is rather common and that there are likely Thai companies dedicated to this process.

Legally speaking yes needs a WP, there is no such thing as a working visa in Thailand, the Non-imm B, commonly perceived as a work visa, is actually not a work visa

If for 14 days or less, temporary WP can be used, normally a Non-imm B visa is required, the Thai entity your dealing with will apply for this and the WP is usually issued within 24 hours, valid for 14 days
