Need A Work Permit

Featured Replies

My Wife owns a small restaurant.

We need to server European food, but cannot find a person to fulfill this role, (we are a way out of town)

I have a "married to a Thai " Visa, and have applied for a new one which I am due to collect on 21st December.

I want to be able to do the cooking but obviously I will need a WP.

I know this has probably been "done to death" already but my circumstances might be slightly different.

If I have a WP will I also need to change my Visa to a "B" and have to leave the country every three months.? the Visa I have now means I never have to leave!

I know somebody who has a WP and works for HIS Wife's business, she has to pay him a high salary (SO the Goverment get a decent tax return from you,) but will it alter the way my Wife runs her company, ie does not pay tax, staff are paid cash? It is a very small concern and a typical Thai business

Would she have to register it and put all the staff permantly on the payrole, although I beleive they are all earning below the tax threshold.

I hope somebody who knows about these things can help me. :o

Thank you in advance :D

Although you could use your support extension/O visa to obtain a work permit do not believe that is going to happen in the circumstances you describe. Believe a company of some type would have to be set up first. I would check with one of the sponsors about the costs involved if you are serious.

Other option is to teach the wife to cook and you take care of the housework (out of sight). :o

Thanks Lopburi,

am I allowed to TEACH the staff to cook in the restaurant or not?

Am I allowed to sit in the garden and talk to customers without a WP, tell the staff when they need a drink etc.... are these things considered WORK?

I know I can do some shopping for food I am sure

I would not want to be visible doing anything other than partaking.

Why not cook at home, freeze the results and put a decent microwave in the restaurant.

Lamphun you beat me to it.

Change your menu, don't cook to order.
