Safe Deposit Box In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi

Im looking for a safety deposit box in Bangkok.

What are my options? I understand most banks need to you be a "big customer" before they will put you on a waiting list to get one - so there is a shortage

Interested to know of anyones experiences getting them in banks, or at private companies.

Thanks

They definitely have them here...

The private firms have been shown to be quite shoddy.

There have been a boatload of threads on this subject so a search might yield a nugget or three, my vaguest recollection is that it can be challenging for some to get a box. Thais seem to rely mostly on safes, judging from the huge number of safe stores on the furniture floor in every mall here, perhaps for privacy and quick access?

Thanks

Yes ive seen those threads but most are quite old. Was looking for up to date info. Cheers

My recommendation is to ask the bank where you have your salary account. If they are a small branch and don't have safety deposit boxes, they will tell you which branch does.

It is very difficult to get a box at any bank. The waiting lists are usually years long. We even had a very good relationship with the lady at our branch. She told us to forget the whole idea because it would never happen. You are correct when you state that the major banks reserve these services for their best customers.

When needed we have always used these guys. Easily accessible from the skytrain, and to date have had no serious problems. All access to the box is done in a private room where no guard can see, and you can place your own personal pad lock on the box in addition to the lock provided by the company.

I have yet to find anyone posting anything on the web specifically stating they received bad service here. We don't currently maintain a box here, but did for a while and experienced no difficulty. Access to the vault requires both key card and fingerprint verification.

^Does that link work for anyone? Hopefully they're a bit more alert watching over your valuables?

I've looked for, but cannot find, the pictures of the private safety deposit box company in the Silom/Sathorn area which underwent construction and everyone's boxes were strewn about the premises. I even think there were some pictures from a private safety deposit box company here where the boxes could be removed from the back, as well as from the front.

they have a huge vault with safe boxes at headquarters of LH Bank (Land & Houses Bank) ground & second floor of Q HOUSE LUMPINI (corner of Sathorn and Rama IV)

you need to open a fixed deposit acct of at least Baht 100K for 6 months.
