Expedia launches full service in Thai

BANGKOK:-- Expedia Inc, the world's largest online travel company, Tuesday launched a full-service website in Thai and plans to introduce it across Southeast Asia in local languages to cash in on the travel boom, partly driven by the Asean Economic Community coming up in 2015 and the mushrooming of lowcost carriers.

"Thailand has been one of our most popular destinations for our Expedia sites across Asia, particularly for our Japanese, Indian and Singaporean online travellers. With the launch of Expedia Thailand, we will now be able to offer simple online booking to Thai consumers, for both domestic and international travel," said Dan Lynn, CEO of AirAsiaExpedia Co.

www.expedia.co.th is the second portal after Singapore, which opened in October last year.

what is really needed is a se asia priceline that does not need flight coming/going to usa. although i'm sure it will serve a good market here, especiallly the english portion of market.

i wonder how their vacation packages wil be managed.

Means nothing- they are probably looking at setting up a call centre here.

I love their cached fare data that says Unable to locate the fare but we have found XXXX more.

Expedia uses either local consolidators for content or GDS rates-still better to book direct with the airline.
