Hi All,

I've done a bit of a search here and am sure there is information on it somewhere but have come up empty handed.

I have heard that it is possible to get an exemption from doing a 90 day border run if you are unable to travel due to health issues (non-immigrant 0 one year). I'd appreciate if any one can help with information on this and also how many times someone can do this during one year.

Cheers in advance for any advice.

From Police order 777/2551

Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 90 days at a time.

(1) Confirmation and request has been made by a physician responsible for the treatment.

The Physician must describe the details of treatment and advised that the illness is a barrier for traveling.

(2) In the case of looking after a patient, confirmation and request has been made by the physician responsible for the treatment or by an embassy or consulate.

You must be sick or looking after someone who is sick (and not able to travel, and this must be certified by a doctor. Often you have to go to immigration yoruself, unless not possible.

Many private hospitals have liasons with immigration to help you with an extension.

Thanks for the replies. Do you know if it is possible to do this more than once during a one year visa?

It is, for as long as you remain incapable of traveling. The extensions are for maximum 90 days at a time, but they can always give a new 90 days as long as you qualify.
