Cabinet reshuffle likely in May

THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- A Cabinet reshuffle is expected in May in order to make room for party executives who've completed their five-year ban on holding office, Culture Minister Sukumol Kunplome said yesterday.

"I believe my husband Sonthaya will return to work full time after his ban expires," she said.

Sukumol said Sonthaya was keeping himself active by serving as her adviser.

She said the ruling Pheu Thai and her Palang Chon party would soon renegotiate the allocation of Cabinet seats in order to accommodate Sonthaya.

Sonthaya used to hold the tourism and sports portfolio, which is presently allocated to the Chart Thai Pattana Party, Sukumol said, hinting at the negotiations to reallocate the coalition quotas.

Oink oink, make room for the returning piggies, starved after a 5-year diet !

or

Hurrah as the victims of an undemocratic coupist Constitution regain their rightful places-for-life, now for some compensation !

... Up to you, how you view this news, but if the existing Cabinet were all chosen for their ability to do their jobs, why would PM-Yingluck need to make any changes at all ? happy.png

I vote the oink oink statement.

Watch out also to see if Jatuporn is officially rewarded by Thaksin. It will be a signal that use of the red villages for political intimidation (and upping the stakes for the return of Thaksin) has been moved to the next level and ape the street forces of 2010.

Third set of ministers in 1 year.

In many countries that would indicate something bad about the government and result in new elections.

I'm just waiting for the spin-sters to tell us, this constant reshuffling shows how much more democratic the country has become, after the election last summer ! rolleyes.gif

If these Ministers were given a nano-second to get their feet under the table somebody might start doing some work for this country. The whole thing is a joke.

It is important for Thaksin that nobody gets too comfortable and provides an alternative pole of attraction, or, and this is a tricky one, coalesces around Yongluck and starts whispering into her ear. Funny really, but just as Thaksin was booted out as a caretaker PM in, he is treating the cabinet as a caretaker cabinet, only keeping the chairs warm until he comes back (he thinks).

For a country where the most popular way to change governments is a coup or a get together over a bottle or two of Johnnie, it will hardly make a blind bit of difference.
