Two Burmese men robbed by Pattaya Volunteers posing as Police Officers

PATTAYA:--Two Burmese restaurant workers were allegedly robbed by men claiming to be Pattaya Police Officers in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident occurred at the traffic lights on the South Pattaya Road close to the Chaimongkol Temple and resulted in the theft of 4,000 Baht in cash and personal documents including Work Permit documentation for both workers. Following the incident, Mr. Somboon aged 28 and Mr. Jo aged 21 contacted their employer, Khun Apisarar aged 41, who took the two men to Pattaya Police Station to report the crime. They revealed how a pick-up carrying, what they believed to be Police Volunteers, pulled up beside them, and two men approached them and conducted a search.

They claimed they were Police and decided to detain both Burmese men who were shuffled onto the back of the pick-up and taken to Jomtien where they were left on the Beach. The money and documents were not returned to them. The victims described the truck as Bronze colored with a red light bar attached to the roof.
