My partner got her general visa yesterday.

It states that it's for 180 days from 1/3/12-1/9/12.

A few points on this that I wouldn't mind people's opinions on-

1, It's 184 days from the first of Mrch until the first of September so which is correct?

2. Can she fly back on the 1st Sept or does she have to leave beforehand, ie 31st Aug ?

3. We stated on the application (& showed flight reservations) that we would be flying at the end of April & so asssumed that they would start the visa from then & not 1st March. I assumed that she would get a visa to visit for 6 months in a 12 month period.

4. In relation to point 3. if she goes to the Uk from the end of April until 1st Sept can she reapply for the unused 6-7 weeks before March 2013?

Your partners visa is as you say valid until 1st sept this is the day she must leave, However when she leave's that depends on what you put on the sponsor letter you should stick to your original plan,

Its a bonus that you have 184 days if it fell on months with shorter days then it would even out,

reference to point 3 i believe there's a question on the form for if you want the visa to start from a particular date if you do not fill this in they will start the visa when its issued

As for point 4, No. she can however apply for another visa and next time you can date it from when you want it to startdrunk.gif

hope she like the weather here

I would assume that she can only stay for 180 days. The dates 01 March to 01 Sept. are the validity period of the visa. For instance, if you get a 5 year Visitor visa, it will state max stay 180 days at any one time within the 5 year period.
