There are plenty of electric and petrol driven lawnmowers and weed whackers in larger stores like HomePro.

I bought an electric mower about 3 years ago for about 5,000 baht... and its still running well.

I'll just move this topic over to a more appropriate Forum where you might get some more responses.

Buy a petrol driven one.

The electric ones are flimsy and you will be forever replacing the nylon monofilament and the spool

You're talking about a "whipper-snipper" or "weed-whacker" aren't you Thetyim?

What the h.ell are they ?

In UK we call the electric ones a lawn strimmer ( nylon monofilament) and the petrol ones a brush cutter (metal blade)

Both are hand held.

I did not mean a lawnmower which has wheels or hovers.

However the lawnmowers with plastic blades are a pile of c.rap.

The plastic blades are sold in bags of fifty, that kinda says it all.

Around here the weed whacker/brush cutter of choice is a Robin. There is a copy called Robyn but the real thing can be had for only a few baht more so that's what we bought and it has worked flawlessly for over a year now and everyone says it will last a long time....plenty of power...low fuel consumption...

I bought a new Honda petrol brush cutter.

It was awful to use. No-one could handle it for more than an hour.

It was 4 stroke and the vibrations made your shoulder go numb and then ache for 2 days. The vibration was coming from the engine it was not the blade out of balance.

Kawasaki are good, I never used a Robin before.

I Just thought I would add my 2 baht in on this one .

All the lawnmowers I have seen in Thailand are flimsy and way overpriced . I heard my neighbor recently bought an electric one and the second time he used it he ran over the cord . :o

Next week I am bringing a new Sears craftsman 7.5 briggs & stratton motor , lawnmower to my house in Korat . My brother inlaw will be mad because he will not get the 300 baht

anymore to cut the lawn with garden shears .

My wife's nephew has a Honda and for about 150 baht he cuts everything on the two rai. I would guess with the house, garage and driveways he has to cut a rai and a quarter. Doesn't hurt my shoulder at all. :o I'm retired and not allowed to work! :D

I used to absolutely hate cutting the lawns back in farang land, now I absolutely love my gardening here in Los.

I bought a push mower, keep the blades sharp and pay the maid 200b every second week to cut it, Then she gets down on her hands and knees and hand trims the edges with the shears.

I have a great lawn, full of care and love and attention, it is also very healthy without all that lawnmower smoke and petrol spills on it.

I love cutting the grass now every 2 weeks.
