Dear all,

I would like to know if someone has knowledge regarding the estimated time that a venture capital firm needs before they decide to invest in a company (after analyzing the business plans, market plans, meetings with the entrepreneur(s), market analyzes etc etc).

I am aware that this might vary from project to project, but any information would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Mojo

As you said depends on the project and the amount of money

an existing business like hotel could be as fast as 3-4 weekd because they have information the can check

new projects can take up to 3 months because they will have to verify the information you supplied them

Every venture capital firm has its own way of dealing with new investment opportunities. If you are talking about an investment in Asia, the Asian VC firms and the US VC firms have quite different approaches. The US firms are long on due diligence, transparency, and ownership, whereas the Asian firms are long on connections.

A US firm may take as much as two years to evaluate an investment project in Asia, whereas a local firm may be ready to move in as many days, provided you have the right connections.

You also need to bear in mind that VC's cannot invest unless they can see their way to an exit strategy. This usually is interpreted as an IPO, even though there are other ways to achieve liquidity. But if they cannot see their way to liquidity, they will not invest.

VC funds typically have a nominal life of 10 years, and an investment life of 4 years. Therefore most VC's prefer to be in and out of any one investment in less than 5 years. Is this possible with your project??
