A "live" Bootable Version Of Windows On Cd

A tip for people, slightly hypocondriac, who need an "emergency" solution if a PC crash :

-A bootable version of windows, on one CD

"Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD"

http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

Just install this software. Then insert a "Windows XP" installation CD.

BartPE is going to take some files of Windows, mix them, and create a nice ISO file, that later you can burn on a CD (with Nero or Alcohool etc.).

The "bootable live windows" is very complete : you even have the network support.

And last but not least, BartPE supports "plug ins" = piece of sotfware you can add to your bootable CD. For instance : a backup software, an anti virus, an utility to recover hard disk etc. You can add also a browser for internet etc.

And if your mother board is uptodate (and with the correct parameters), you can even copy the BartPE files onto a... USB key ! And your PC will boot from the USB key.
