Buying A Bike/Scooter?

Featured Replies

Hi all, will be coming over to Thailand for a longish holiday 6-9 months, the question is can i buy and legally own a bike/scooter in my name??? obviously selling it on my return.......didnt really want to hire one for that length of time as the odds of it going walk about would be higher and i would probably have passport details at ransom.................cheers

Yes, you can buy in your name if your visa is 30 days or more,

but you'll only get half of what you paid for it back when you sell it,

and that is a best cas scenario.

What price range do you have in mind ?

buy a 2nd hand one ,after 6 months you might not loose anything and get back the same price you paid :)

ive even made a profit sometimes on bikes ive had about 6 months

its called depreciation....the art of losing a load of cash for the priviledge of driving a car or bike out of the showroom

instantly its worth much less than it was 5 minutes ago :D

i would buy it privately and sell it privately again ,the dealers will always try to rape you

he could get a 4 year old cbr 150 for 30k ,ride around a few months and it will still be worth around 30k when it comes time to sell

Unless of course he waits till the last moment to sale and cannot. There are a lot of used bikes for sale here donot think yours is special because you are a farange.
