Belgian resident caught-up in near-fatal road accident in South Pattaya

PATTAYA:--A Belgian was involved in a high speed road accident in the early hours of Tuesday which left a Thai pedestrian with serious injuries.

Khun Jamlat aged 53, a construction worker, was reportedly crossing the Sukhumvit Road, in front of Soi Kao Noi when he was struck by a Black Honda CRV, driven by the 44 year old Belgian.

Khun Jamlat sustained life threatening injuries including multiple broken bones and a suspected fractured skull and was rushed to Hospital where his condition remains critical.

The Belgian driver was detained by Police despite the fact he claimed not to have caused the accident. Witnesses saw Khun Jamlat attempting to cross the road and he was seen to continue walking across when he was hit by the Honda CRV

This must have been the accident that one of the TV posters put a thread in the Pattaya forum about? That OP claimed that the man had since passed away. Is this true as many of us have already given condolences in the other post which would be wrong in many ways if he is still alive (superstisiously for the Thai's and morally for the rest)

Yes this is the accident and yes the person hit died early this afternoon. Upon the advise of his insurance company the driver has denied responsibility, whilst the police believe otherwise. The matter will now proceed to court.

^^

I am so sorry to hear about this, and I frankly am sorry you had to endure such worthless comments and aggravation from others in the other thread when you were just trying to get simple information.
