Hi,

On Wed 28/3 I am driving from Chiang Mai to Mae Sai and back for the 90 days-trip. Have some seats available in the car... Anyone wants to join us (me and gf)?

I won't charge for petrol or anything, but if you want, you can buy us a plate of pad thai on the way back... ;)

Cheers

Wish you were a few days sooner. Just out of the hospital and I need to make the run. Can't be late. Don't want to be late.and get deported. And seems having your heart stop and being in a hospital with a doctors note and photos is not a good enough reason to be late imm says

Hi JeffreyMcCollum,

I believe you can get a medical visa or something like that. Don't know any details, but it might be worth asking someone who knows about these things.

Cheers

Sawadee Khrup, Khun Jeffrey McCollum, may I suggest you immediaely:

1. get a letter written in Thai by your doctor, and signed off on by the head of the medical facility. Make sure the doctor states he requests Immigration help you with a special medical extension for specific reasons relating to your lllness which need on-going treatment.

2. make sure this letter is on Hospital Stationery, the envelope it is in is Hospital stationery,and that it is addressed, in Thai to the Chief Immigration Office in Chiang Mai.

4. Act, while in the Immigration offices with utmost humility, appearing as sick and weak as possible.

This worked for me when I had cancer and was granted a special six-months medical extension.

Note that letter from a private clinic will not carry the "weight" from a Thai public hospital like Maharaj or Chiang Mai Ram.

good luck, ~o:37;

4. Go to the CM Thai Immigration office, look as miserable and weak and sickly as possible, and ask them to read the letter.

A few questions, if you don't mind.

1. type of vehicle, how many seats. If music played, played at high volume ?

2. plan on any rest-stops along the way ?

3. leaving what time for MS, returning to CM what time ? ... estimated ...

thanks, ~o:37;

Far be it form me to add anything to a post from such a learned and erudite person as Orang37, but the latter should also state ' In my medical opinionK. Jeffrey is unfit to travel by air' This is taken as evidence that you cant continue your treatment back home.

Sawasdee Khrup, Khun Millwall_Fan,

Sir, this damaged and yellowing blade of grass, slept on by the same emaciated soi-dog every night as he huddles, pitifully, outside the house of his former owner's home, who ditched him when he was no longer a "cute puppy;" this final resting place of the chitinous residue of cast-off fleas eviscerated by ants ... does not deserve such approbation for the mask of simulated intelligence he wears over his harlequin-fool's inner-self, in the vanity, and hubris, of trying to fool others into believing what he can no longer fool himself into believing !

I think the point you just raised is far more important: than any I brought up.

In fact, I think getting the letter to include, in its opening statement, or paragraph, the phrase "unable to travel home for medical treatment," or "unable to travel without serious medical risk," or, whatever: could be the strongest possible way to begin such a letter.

with respect, ~o:37;

1. Nissan Navarra, have 3 (back)seats available. Background music, not loud. Feel free to bring your own cds, BUT as the driver I have a veto ;)

2. One stop on the way there (probably at hot springs) and one on the way back, not sure where.

3. Leaving 8AM, do border hop, little bit shopping at tax free shop, want to be back before 5PM

Sounded like a good trip but don't know if it is a good idea to bring an unknown a long with you. How about inviting your wife's girl friends or something.

Medical visas are avalable from embasys out side of thailand and would void my M visa

LETTER from the doctor with stamp from the gorvernment hospital was of little or no help

It was a nice drive up. Very crowded, and the air is just nasty !

Sawasdee Khrup, Khun Jeffrey,

Very sorry to hear your documents were not accepted. I guess I was lucky that when I applied for medical extension over five years ago, CM Immigration were extremely helpful ! In and out in half-an-hour.

Hypothesis: the fact my document came from Maharaj Hospital/Sriphat (pubic Thai hospital), and was written by the head of the Oncology unit, Dr. Loavicharn, somehow made a difference ?

best wishes for your health !
