A lt depend on where you will be applying.

An Ed-visa is eithrr single or multiple, in most cases you wil get a single ED-visa, good for 90 days and can be extended at immigration every 90 days with paperwork from the school.

Youw ill need papework from teh school to get the ED-visa.

For a stay of 6 months there is the option of a double entry tourist visa, good for a stay of 2 times 60 days and each stay can be extended by another 30 days. So stay 60 days, extend 30 days, leave thialnd and come right back for another 60 + 30 days. it allows study, it also allows you not to study.
