GarryP
Worse than Customs? I always thought is was the Land Department followed by Customs when talking about actual value. But there's no denying that if we are talking abount individual instances the police would be hard to beat, especially with most main throughfares in Bangkok becoming toll roads at least twice a week and more often just before long holidays. 473geo
The only reason the royal thai police force beat out the compitetion for this award is the shear number within the organization. The inactive group is close on their tail, with civil servants and elected officials fast coming up on the inside. Not trying to deflect from the findings, but where projects/business goes out to tender there is usually a method to alert the preferential operator of the anticipated price range; whereby if a lower or matching price is tendered the debate can be instigated into quality of service, putting the 'unknown' company or individual at a disadvantage........a frequent occurence around the globe I suspect

whybother
I wonder how many posters on here have added to it through bribing police with cash in order to not be given a driving tickets.... Be honest please. I was "encouraged" to give a donation once. I have no idea what ticket I would have been given had I not complied, but I'm sure he would have made something up. whybother
Chief Ombudsman Panit Nitithanprapas announced that for the past 12 years, nearly 25,000 cases out of over 26,000 reported to the Office have already been completed. They would have collected a fortune ensuring that most of the 25,000 cases went nowhere. I wonder who investigates complaints against the ombudsman. Be honest please. Applies to Thai and other Asians/Africans only. No Farang will even think of paying brib in Thailand, or any where else in this world. Yeah, of course not. What's a "brib" anyway, is a BIB bribe?

dominique355
I wonder how many posters on here have added to it through bribing police with cash in order to not be given a driving tickets.... Be honest please. I think you're missing the point. Honest police wouldn't accept your bribe in the first place. The procedure to follow for an "honest" motorist is so cumbersome and time consuming that we all prefer the "easy" way. Does anyone ask, why the normal procedure is so much a pain in the a**? Is that just a coincidence? Or is the police really interested in making it easier?
dominique355
My son (10) asked me, what would happen if there were no police. I gave it some thought and then replyed: "Nothing". The law isn't enforced anyway, so why do we actually need a police? Anybody?
trainman34014
So; now the Ombudsman has made this 'winning position' official, what does the Thai Government intend to do about it? Call in Thaksins brother and fire him, along with every other high ranking Police Chief, depriving them of any pension entitlements and all the other privilege's these crooks have come to expect? Somehow I think that they will be 'too busy' to worry about such trivial matters.
garrya
Thanks for the lots of entertaining comments guys. Brilliant. I am having a laughter attack. Why would they spend their time on analyzing corruption in Thailand? Would they take steps against it? Ohh yes, giving away awards for people with GREAT morals. I am still laughing. Actually the government removed the police chief in Sept 2011, who at the time was quoted as saying "I have been removed for a reason that has nothing to do with my ability or short comings"......there followed the exposure of casinos 'protected' by the police
