Muliple Re-Entry Permit

Featured Replies

To-day I payed for and received a multiple re-entry permit, thinking it would be for one year, however on arriving home I noticed that

it only covers the next 5 months, until my yearly visa expires. Is this correct ?

I know nothing about the validity of re entry permits, but I know this would have been better in the visa thread, good luck.

Yes, It's correct.

A re-entry permit covers your current permission to stay. When you do your next extension you'll need a new re-entry permit.

our whole family uses multiple re entry visas during the granted extension of stay. (EOS)

This year we have a trip planning to Laos on the 9th of april..........granted stay including dependents untill 26-4.

parents granted re-entry just after extension last year....children aplied 2 months later...yet.....

the extension of stay must be renewed before or at 26-04 for ALL family members...re-entry permits are related to extension of stay in our case

("retirement" EOS plus dependents)

that means we have to be back in Thailand on time.....before the 26th.of April

so say you have been granted an EOS at 1-1-2011 and you aplied re-entry multiple on 1-05-2011 your multiple trips OUT of Thailand will have to take place in the period UNTILL 1-1-2012

As said a Re Entry Permit is valid for the period of your current permision to stay.

I am curious, isn't it only the non-o A that has the ability to leave the country the day before expiration, upon return you are stamped another year

THEN...

You would take that to immigration and get a multiple rentry (abt B4000) which would allow you to stay until one year from your entry rolled around.

If I have my facts correct... (?)

Is this your error in judgement?

For a one year stamp yes - but any multi entry visa can be used before expiration date for a new permitted to stay of the normal 90 day period. And yes a re-entry permit would be required for travel once the visa becomes invalid. But that is true of any entry so a re-entry permit is a option for many visitors; even those on tourist visa entry.

everything is right. the period of re-entry permit validity depends on your visa

As your renewal date for your Extension of Stay is this month, you could go now to Immigration, before you leave for Lao, and ask if you can do your renewal now. If possible (depands on the office) you won't have to worry about being back for the 26th. Remember to buy Reentry permit for your new extension at the same time.

Tanaka is right, a friend of mine did his extension-renewal about 5 weeks before the "expiration date". No problem - at least at Phuket Immigration. And he immediately did the re-entry permit, which is now valid until the end of the new extension.

I believe as noted by another poster that your multi re-entry permit is only as good as your permission to your stay! That is why when I apply every year for my retirement visa once it is approved I apply the for the multi-entry the same day if it isn't too busy.

My own situation is this if someone can answer it?

Like every year my retirement visa expires on the 20th of every February. This year because I needed to go back home to the U.S. I renewal the visa early knowing full well that the new stamp will still read for February 20th, 2012. I have done this before early and left thereafter but always return after the 20th of February using my new stamp.

This year though, I went to the U.S. on the 17th of January, but after a week I had to return back to Thailand because of a emergency. On the airplane I filled out the card and use my old stamp visa thinking it was still good since I came back before the 20th of February, the immigration officier at the checkpoint kept saying " 90 days. 90 days and he pointed at the stamps which I will also add that each year usually when I renewal they always use a separate page but this year I noticed that the new stamp was on the same page and right under the old stamp visa? I had no idea what he was asking so I just said " up to you " he stamp it and off I went! Since then I have already gone down and done my normal 90 days reporting.

To this day, I not sure what is going on and I'm thinking I'm here illegal? Anyone can make anything out of this or am I just worrying for nothing?

Thanks in advance!

Can't make any sense of it. You might want to scan the page and post it.

When you leave with a re-entry permit, you always fill in the number of the re-entry permit instead of your visa number on the arrival card. You should be stamped in till the exipry of your permission to stay, 12th February.
