Visa Non-Immigrant Question

Featured Replies

I have a non-immigrant Visa Type "O" (family reasons)

It says "This visa must be utilized before 14 June 2012"

I entered the country using this visa on 23rd June 2011, and I've just gone on a visa run to Singapore, and the new stamp says I'm admitted until 19th June 2012

Question is very simple: Can I get those "extra 3 months" by leaving the country again before the 19th June? Will they give me another 3 months?

thank you

Yes, but you must do a run before the expiration date of the O visa, NOT stamps.

Moved to Visa forum, with live link remaining on CM.

You must make that trip return by June 14th as that is the expiration date of your visa.

As said enter before 14th June to get 90 days.

Pete66..... I take it that your passport says you have a 90 day visa with multiple entries valid until 14 June 2012?

If that is true and you came in June 2011, you must have exercised your multiple entry permit 3 times so far, the last one being in March 2012?

I know I will be chastised for restating the obvious (to some people), but I am unfamiliar with an O visa for family reasons. I would have guessed it would have been good for 1 year. But since you only got 90 days, then it must be a 90 day visa.

So your question is, if you leave the country again in early June (before 14 June 2012) and return, will you get another 90 days, i.e., be permitted to stay until Sept 2012? Or, in other words, can you exercise the reentry one more time in June shortly before the visa expires?

Given this scenario, I, too, would agree with Transam from a position of semi-ignorance.

Your posting caught my interest as it is always useful to know all the different visa rules and regulations, even if they may not apply to oneself.

Assuming you do have a multi entry visa good for one year (it should be stamped MULTI or have that word written where "number of entries" is indicated on your visa) then you must exit Thailand and re-enter on 13 June 2012 to get another 90 day stamp...which should give you until sometime in September,

Even though your original visa expires 14 June 2012 you can stay in Thailand until that "permitted to stay" date that is stamped in your passport when you enter on the 13 of June.

It might be possible to do that border run on the 14th of July also...but don't risk it. Get in done on the 12th or13th, because if you wait until the 14th, and something goes wrong, then you're forked big time.

So don't take that chance.
