Working Possibilities With Ed-Student Visa

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

It's my first post in here. I would like to gain some knowledge about my possibilities for working and traveling in and out of Thailand during the period of my 1 year ED student visa.

I've looked for a similar topic, but I can't seem to find one.

So, anyone that can help me explain the rules of getting a "working permit" while on a student ED visa and some information about multiple-entries also on my ED visa?

I'm a University student in the Thai program, and I'm Danish.

Would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Emil

I stand to be corrected but dont believe you can be issued with a WP on the basis of an Ed visa

Thought so... What about traveling out abd in of Thailand on a ED student? Thanks for the reply.

No work permit will be issued on an ED-visa, for that you will need to obtain a non-B visa.

If you have a multiple entry Ed-visa, you can freely travel in and out of Thailand as long as the visa is valid. If you are on an extension of stay from immirgation, you would need a re-entry permit at a cost of 1,000 baht single or 3,800 baht multiple.

Thanks!

I'm going back to Denmark for three weeks in late May and returning mid June, where I'm going to get my ED-student renewed. Does it cost me any more to get a multiple entry ED-student than a normal ED-student? And can I just get it made at the immigration?

Sorry for all of my questions, this is a whole new World for me ;)

Why would you get your visa "renewed"? If you have at present an Extension all you need is a Re-Entry Permit to maintain your present status. Get your Re-Entry Permit at your local Immigration office or at the Airport (not recommended).

Thanks for the help everyone :)

A re-entry permit is 1,000 baht, a new Ed-visa single is 2,000 baht in local currency and a multiple Ed will be 5,000.

With a multiple Ed-visa you will need to leave the country every 90 day.

Since you are a University student and get 1 year extensions of stay, I would get a re-entry permit at immigration for 1,000 baht to keep your permisison to stay alive and when the time comes get a new extension of stay. That is the cheapest and the most easy. Extension of stay would cost 1,900 year and requires paperwork from the university.

100% correct, Mario. I would also add that most Consulates will not issue a Multi-Entry Ed Visa. At least that has been our experience.
