Visa For A Little Over 60 Days

Featured Replies

Hello all, I am an American from California traveling to Phuket, Thailand from june 15th to august 23rd. Not sure where to get my visa or what type, or if i'm supposed to do a visa run or something, please help.

You get a tourist visa valid for one entry from the Thai consulate in Los Angeles or from any other Thai consulate in the USA. Mail applications are accepted. On arrival in Thailand you will be given permission to stay for 60 days. Any time during the last two weeks before these 60 days are over you go to the nearest immigration office in Thailand and for a fee of 1, 900 Baht get a 30-day extension of stay.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Agree single entry tourist visa is best. You can apply by mail. The consulate in Portland is very friendly. Here is there details:

Other alternative is near the end of the 60 days, cross any of the land borders, come back in and get 15 days on re-entry.

Think you'll find that Honorary Consuls no longer issue visas to people outside their coverage area. If in California, his best bet is the Royal Thai Consulate, Los Angeles. Also by mail, good service these days (unlike the past).
