Lpg Confusion, Should I Upgrade Or Replace ? Due To Issues

Recommended Posts

Hi, we have a suzuki APV with a Autronic dual fuel LPG.

i guess the system is as old as the car, but i dont know as it was installed when we bought the car, 2hand.

when on gas, i feel we dont get the bang for the buck, it feels little lazy, when i trottle it, it have a deeper roar than on benzin, it feels like it is limited somehow maybe from greese buildup or something need adjustment, i dont know.

so we have taken the car to 3 different LPG shops, they said, they dont have Autronic computer to test the ECU for problems, so they ask why not just buy a new Kit around 25k with belly tank, instead of trunk tank........

So now my next question is, are there any benefit to change the whole system ?

it is easy to say, it is much better, but how will i notice the difference ?

Please help us.

How old is the car ???

You have a vehicle with dual fuel after market fitted option, with LPG the performance will be different, really what is your problem,(speed).

Go pay 25k and see if you feel the different. biggrin.png

hehe, the point was not to buy new, if i can just clean or update the one i have, and get good result.

Is 2007 1,6 engine, its an aftermarket LPG system, in fact i have no knowledge about this system. except it is AUtronic, and have no filter.

When we got the car 4 months ago, it didnt feel like this, it was more responsive better acceleration in LPG than now.

When idle, the rpm is not stable, it is more less up and down constantly, and the sound from the car sounds "weird" and it is shaking abit.

When in idle, and i touch the pedal, it have delay before the Rpm go up, it is not instant like when on benzin.

few days ago we had the sparkplugs exchanged,

In short, the lpg i have slower acceleration than before, but topspeed is the same as on benzin.

Any Idea ?

Does it do the same if driving on the benzine? ...if yes,you may have a vacuum leak somewhere...I would check this first.

Not much idea really but you do have a problem that needs to be sorted !! There is so many conflicting views on LPG usage, the only thing I recall is regular servicing is a must as seals have to be checked as leaks ( as already suggested ) cause jerking especially on kits older than 4years old.

Short of a diagnostic check at the main dealer I don't know what else to say. :)

On benzin is all OK, i have had the vacuum in my mind before, however i cant find anything,

If i start the car when it is cold, it dont have stable rpm for the first 30 sec. even on benzin, this make me think about the vacuum

After four years it's probably a good idea to install a new system rather then troubleshoot the old one no one seems to support anymore.

LPG shops can look into your issues but without access to the ECU they probably don't even want to start. Personally I don't believe your problems are because your ECU somehow reset itself but running diagnostics without access to it is a major pain and a lot of guesswork.

Try to find which shop had installed your Autronic in the first place or Autronic dealer if it's still in business.

Failing that try to find a garage that would be ready to take apart your LPG and see if there's anything visibly wrong with any of the components. It could be a loose screw somewhere and that's all but finding it is the problem and they won't get paid if they can't fix your car and they are not sure they can so they dont' want to start.

Also, when they suggest installing new LPG system beware that they can keep lots of original elements in place, like the tank, but they prefer redoing the whole shebang which is unnecessary.

Also you don't need "Autronic computer", just the tuning program that can be theoretically downloaded off the Internet or requested from the manufacturer, and a cable. Usually LPG garages can let you copy their installation CDs and cables are available from specialist shops that LPG garages should know about so that's not really a dead end.

If Autronic does not sell their kits anymore you can still track those down but replacing worn out parts is going to be a problem and that's the only scenario where you will have to reinstall your LPG.

see your point.

However now we have phones a great deal of LPG shops and have found one, he knew about or LPG system and said it easy could be the Filter that had to be cleaned as in this model it is build inside the reducer, and not many know this.

So i will try visit this place after songkran,

Can anyone tell me what my benefit would be to install a brand new LPG kit ?

I see at Autronics, the kit i have, is installed in various og new cars too, and BKK taxi use the exact same model too, so i belive is not a bad system at all, however i have no knowledge about this thing.

Whether your LPG kit, a wash machine or a PC, they can all go wrong at some time BUT most stuff can be fixed IF the ''right'' guy is looking at it. No point in a new set up until the ''right'' guy has looked at it. cowboy.gif
