Non O Visa Question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys can my cousin get a multi entry non O in a surrounding country around here with a Australian passport based on Thai relatives. He has had a non o before form the Sydney consulate.

The thing is the consulate is closed on Monday and he wants to leave there on Wednesday morning for songkrung. Cheap flight that day too.

Maybe with a Thai Wife but otherwise No.

Not even in Australia.

Thankful for a fast response, but he is only 21 and not yet ready to marry and I have stated that he had a non o visa multiple entry related to a Thai by blood issued in Sydney before year ago. why not around here?

Family must be spouse, child or adopted child or child of the spouse that is a Thai national. But that is for an extension of stay.

Sydny might or might not still issue, if he can show the family relationship. But not sure, as no reports about that. In the region they will not issue. But in Sydney he can get at least a double entry tourist visa, good for 180 days with 2 extensions. He will need a visa anyway, otherwise the airline might not let him board since he doesn't have a ticket out in 30 days!

coffee1.gif Multi-entry Non O visas these days are almost impossible to get, and usually aren't possible at all without documentaion of a marriage to a Thai. Even then most often the Thai consulate will only issue a 90 day single entry and tell you to extend it once in Thailand after you're there (which is possible with supporting documentation). Also you won't get any "visiting Thai relatives" justification Non O visas visas in neighboring countries now.

It might be possible to get a Non O visa based on visting Thai relatives in Australia, but nowadays you will need proof from Thailand to get that.

The nearest Thai consulate could give you the details...but be aware they will want to see signed photocopys of a relative's documents from Thailand now.

So it can't be done quickly any longer...even if you can get those signed photocopys needed.

As someone said...the rules have been changed. The old "visiting friends and/or relatives in Thailand" justification is no longer valid....unless you can provide the required proof from Thailand.

And on short notice...it just isn't possible now

you can get a Non "O" for other reasons than being married to a Thai, Like making a visit to check out retirement possiblities.
