I am posting this query here however if any moderator thinks it should be in another section please move accordingly.

I haved lived in Thailand for nearly 7 years, am legally married and have a retirement extension of stay.

I am returning to the UK in May to spend some quality time with my 91 year old father who currently is in good health but needs a bit of reminding to take his medications.

When I am there I want to do some voluntary work in the form of driving senior citizens to day centres etc however because of the usual red tape of the UK I will neeed to get a licence from the local authority to do this.

Before they will issue it they have to carry out a Criminal Records Beaurea check and the CRB have informed me that as I have lived in Thailand for over 5 years I need to get a Certificate of good conduct which they said I could get via the British Consulate in BKK.

I live in Khon Kaen so I called the BC and after several attempts got through to someone who told me that they could not assist me and that I have to apply direct to the Thai police.

My wife has been exploring the internet and seems to have found a site in Thai that claims it can be done through the post within 7 days but one of the requirements is that I send some fingerprints to them.

We went to our local police station yesterday with a print out of the relevant page from the internet site but needless to say we received no help from them and were merely told hat we will have to go to BKK after Songkran to obtain the certificate although they could not tell us exactly where to go.

Has anybody out there ever obtained a Certificate of good conduct and if so could you please advise me of the procedure you followed and relevant cost.

Thanks
