Well it seems we got 3 big geckos in the house (not a small place) and I dont really mind as they keep the insects away however my wife is terrified of the sound they make at night, its really loud and she wakes up being scared.

Now 2 times I was close to killing them, bit I can't do it. They are harmless creatures, and when I trapped one, it sounded do scared that I could not finish the job.

I've also tried catching them with my hands but they are in spaces too small for my hands to reach.

Do any of you fellas know how to get rid of them without killing them? I know, I might be too soft on this however I just want to get them out of the house and don't use my machete haha.

They are territorial which is partly what the noise is about.

I can only suggest catching them and taking them for a long drive and releasing them and hoping they can establish a new turf.

I would imagine they would be replaced by a new arrival fairly quickly though.

The dogs's not keen on them.. cool.png

You'll get used to the Noise, Don't start a battle you can't Win or really don't need to have. There will be plenty of other battles to fight ;-)

Our Tokay understand they live outdoors or under the eaves of the house. The smaller geckos are allowed indoors as long as they stay out of the way. I find a small hand towel a good aid in grabbing the little fellows who get out of line. They still drop their tails but are otherwise unhurt when I throw them out the window or out in the garden. Coming from Hawaii I have always lived with geckos.

Our decorative garden lizards are no bother at all.

I am a huge fan of the Tokays or geckos as some call them, however, their little cousins are what I don't want in the house. Hell, I really don't want any lizards in the house. This house has ceilings, soffitted overhangs, screens on the windows and two screen doors, unlike the last place we lived....They sh*t all over the place and as I have made a deal with them already...they can have all the outside they want, just stay out of the house....I enforce it with a NERF gun. The foam darts will knock them off our ceilings...some 14' high....where I can usually grab them and throw them outside. The NERF gun was a request from someone coming to visit us from the states, and he also brought along a 20 shot, extra clip. Now mind you...it has taken me up to 20 tries before I hit one, but I usually get them and throw them out. I would rather have them for insect remediation than to destroy them. I hear the big guys are actually omnivores and will eat baby mice...gotta love that, eh? pg

This is our resident Tokay...I named him Clarence in honor of The Boss's late, great, sax player. I got this picture, on a rather cool morning when his anti-freeze wasn't working. He was so lethargic, he could barley move, but he could open that mouth! Personally, I love their song...but...as with most Thais, especially women...they are feared more than anything else it seems....and my wife is no exception. She is cool with them as long as she knows they are outside and/or can't see them. I was able to get him on a broom and placed him in a bunch of banana trees, along side the house. pg

One of them walked into a glue trap my wife set out. I felt so bad. First I thought I could get him out and set him free, but he was so covered in glue, that I had to put the little fella out of his misery. Needless to say I threw out all the traps and told my wife to stop being do afraid.

I'll take all you've got, they eat insects particularly mosquitoes .

What's their teeth for?

If you notice the little jingjoks running around minus body parts...well that is what their teeth are for. thumbsup.gif
