Sorry to sound stupid but i have been filling out an online application for a UK settlement visa for my wife and wishing to add extra information can only submit about 50 words on the form but need room for more info, just wondered if i could fill out the form by hand as i had previously printed off VAF4A form and there is plenty of room for extra info. Only on the application site it says you have to apply online to get your appointment with VFS but how can you do this if you can't fit all the info on the extra info page and therefore your online application will be incomplete. Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

You complete the form on-line then print it off and take it to VFS with the documentation. I wonder if the on-line form is to speed things along because it all has to be typed and this gets round peoples lousy handwriting! You can add things to the application once printed out or put additional information in a covering letter.

I am not sure the ECO directly accesses the on-line version but I doubt it. The system also helps by storing the application (for a certain time) so you can complete it in stages.

I understand you have to apply for the VFS appointment but it is the printed out application that matters!

If I correctly remember what has been said by Visa Plus, who is far more knowledgeable than I in these matters, then the ECO bases their decision on the print out of the application plus the additional supporting documents.

Therefore I would suggest that you simply type 'see accompanying letter' in the additional information box of the online form and put all the additional info in your supporting letter.

Correct, 7x7. That is exactly what we do.
