Tourist Visa Extension

Featured Replies

I am a 72 year old American, now in Thailand on a 3o day extension of a tourist visa. Can I change the tourist visa to Non Imm O at the local Chonburi Immigration office, using a combination of SS payments of about 45,000 Baht per month and the remainder in mt Bangkok Bank Account. Or should I go get a Non Imm O at an embassy in Penang or Vientiane.

Up to you as is said. If you intend to extend for retirement either method can be used. But you will likely require 15 days remaining on current permitted to stay stamp so that may be an issue (as you will have to obtain Embassy letter and Bank letters of income/savings also).

Thanks. I have 3 weeks left until my extension runs out. I will go and get the letters before end of this week and apply. What forms will I need?

Letters, passbook/copies, Tm.7 with 4x6cm photo taken within last six months, 1,900 baht fee, copies of passport data/visa/stay stamps and departure card. You should have some proof of residence as that determines what office serves you.

Thanks. I will have all of that. I live in Pattaya so have been using the office on Soi 5 Jomtien for extensions.
