Hello,

Would I be able to fly to Malaysia in the morning (arrive 11AM) and then book a ticket at the airport, to return the same day a few hours later?

Once I get to the airport, I would then buy the earliest ticket back to bangkok.

Usually when I leave Thailand, I stay in another country for a few days... but this time, I just want to see if I could do all this in 1 day without problems.

Thanks for the replies.

I have also done this before, flying to kl or Singapore is your best option. You can book both tickets online, air asia usually the cheapest, leave approx 2-2.5 hours turn around time.

Also what visa is this for? Renewing a multiple entry can be done with a land crossing (border run) cheaper and quicker.

Hello,

Thanks for replies.. My thai visa expired cause I overstayed 1 day on accident before going to Laos.. So they gave me 15 days to leave..

So I decided to fly to Malaysia and grab 30 more days then get a 30 day extension if im correct.

I already spent time and money going to Laos (spent a week there, took train..) Little did I know my visa was late 1 day.. So when re-entry, they wouldnt accept it.

The last thing I want to do is continue to spend more income on hotels and extended stays.. afterall I just did all this 10 days ago. :P

Never tried to apply anywhere else abroad for a visa, but im pretty much gaurenteed when applying from my home city (usa)..

Would be interesting to know where else abroad you can get the 6 month 3 entry visa for americans without any problem.

But in the meantime, I have very short timeframe to plan something out hehe ;)

Ah and reason why i want to buy ticket at airport is because the tickets on the internet show a 8 hour gap between flights...

But Im sure once i get to the airport, i can pickup a flight back within 4 hours or less..

In addition, when I flew from china to bangkok, tickets at the airport were significantly cheaper than paying online via lets say, orbitz.

So i figured that may also be the case for malaysia... but of course, its a gamble..

Ah I see, well thats a bummer... I just checked some online sources.

Says if you fly in without visa, you can get 30 days with a possible 15 day extension.

When I came from Laos, (by train) I also did not have a visa..I got 15 days stay.. I went to immigration and they gave me a 7 day extension.

So seems you can get an extension with no visa, but its not 30 days.

Looks like 15 day extensions by flight, 7 days by land border.

Well this is off-topic to the flight question anyhow..

So if I fly to abroad and come back, I get 30 days.. no extension... 30 days nothing more?

I think you will get a 7 day extension on a air entry 30 day visa exempt. If you are buying a ticket at the airport to KL I can just about guarantee you will be charged more than using the airlines website. This is due to booking the ticket last minute plus they always charge admin fee for using a counter service. Bkk to kl or Singapore 2000 bht each way approx. Arrive 10am leave 2pm approx.

First of all you received the normal visa exempt entry on return from Vientiane without a valid visa of 15 days. This will be the same on any land entry without a visa. By air it will be 30 days. Such entry can not be extended. The most that be obtained is a refusal of extension (which in effect allows 7 days to pack out) for normal 1,900 baht application fee.

If you want to stay more than 30 days you should be obtaining a visa from a Thai Consulate during your travel.
