Child Benefit is payable to everyone who has a child, I got it in the UK and whilst serving in Germany, in full time employment.

Copied and pasted, link given.

Child Benefit (previously known as Children's Allowance) is payable to the parents or guardians of children under 16 years of age, or under 18 years of age if the child is in full-time education, FÁS Youthreach training or has a disability. Child Benefit is not paid on behalf of 18-year olds.

Child Benefit is paid at one and a half times the appropriate monthly rate for twins, and at double the appropriate monthly rate for triplets and other multiple births.

Changes in 2012

It was announced in Budget 2012 that the rates of payment of Child Benefit will be standardised for all children over the next two years. This means that the Child Benefit rate will be the same for all children in a family.

In 2012 Child Benefit is €140 per month for each of the first two children. From 1 Jaunary 2012 the rate for the third child is €148 and for the 4th and each subsequent child is €160.

Additional monthly payment for twins and triplets will continue but the grant of €635 paid at birth, at 4 years of age and at 12 years of age for these multiple births has ceased from 1 January 2012.

Finally, we're getting some info.

is payable to the parents or guardians of children under 16 years of age, or under 18 years of age if the child is in full-time education

This sentence isn't entirely clear. Is the requirement of being in FT education for all children or only those between the ages of 16 and 18?

Any English teachers on here?

Some kids leave school at 16 years old, some go on to further education which gives you the extra 2 years of child benefit.

hi there.

im irish(oirish) and i have a thai wife and two kids. one was born in chiang mai and we moved to england when she was 2. it doesnt matter if you were born on the moon as far as been irish is concerned. if the dad is half alien and half irish, you have a right to irish passport. also you dont need to register birth as they do here in uk. that saves you hundreds of pounds, i believe. i got a visa for the uk for my wife in 3 days. we went to finland on holidays and i got offered a job in uk. 3 days for that visa, spouse visa, as they have to give it under european law. my daughter is both holder of irish and thai passports. my son was born in uk but wont be able to apply for uk passport for him until he's 5. lukily we dont want that one for him. got him irish one from embassy in london. the only thing about getting thai passport for son is that he would have to go into the sweepstakes for army when he's of age. thats not going to happen as far as im concerned. i think i would have failed as a father if he wanted to join army.

i dont know if this helped but good luck. its easy really.

sorry i forgot to add...

we get full welfare entitlements here in uk, as visa treats wife as uk resident. we get tax credits and child tax credits too, and help with housing benefit. also at customs in airport in uk, she can go through with me instead of waiting in mad queue with other resident visa holders. sweet.

Sorry been away for a few days so couldn't comment ,

Welfare is exactly that ..it doesn't matter that you used to pay in taxes or indeed what your parents ,no need to discuss Charlie Haughey ,he was a criminal who died before he got his just desserts ,no body should follow his example

.

If you want to work and live in Ireland and your child is with you ,then you are entitled to child welfare

You are correct I won't be sponging of anyGoverment to pay for my children's upbringing, and if she needs 30k when she is older ,she will get it from my working ,not putting her hand out coz her dad used to pay taxes

It's the mentality of I deserve something free because somebody else is getting it that has the Irish state in the toilet ,it was greed in the nineties (the reason I left) now a country of spongers looking for a easy Bob.
