Tourist Visa

Recommended Posts

I'm only coming for 78 days then have to come back to states.I plan on traveling out of country at least once during that time, most likely by plane. My question is if I get a single entry visa once I leave the country the visa is void when I come back and I get a visa on arrival.Or I just get a visa on arrival when I first come and I will be able to stay 30 days and leave some where and come back in on plane and get another visa on arrival plus extension (30+30 days).Opposed to getting a dbl visa I can leave when ever I want and come back and still be able to stay the whole time, 60 days + 1 -30 day extension.I hope this makes some sense.

When arriving without a visa, you would get a 30 day visa exempt entry, not a Visa on Arrival. Without a visa, you might not be allowed to board your flight.

A visa exempt entry cannot be extended for 30 days. The most you could hope for would be 7 days. You would probably be asked to show a ticket out of the country within those 7 days.

How you use your entries will depend on how long you'll stay in Thailand before visiting another country. Or, another way, how long you'll need in Thailand after that visit to another country.

If you'll only need 30 days or less, use the tourist visa for the initial entry, and a visa exempt entry on the return. Visa exempt = 15 days by land, 30 days by air.

There is also a re-entry permit available, without which, yes, your tourist visa will be canceled when you leave the country before you've used up the time.

Without knowing your schedule...

when you exit thailand your remaining days become void unless you get a re-entry permit added to your passport.

each time you fly into thailand you get 30 days permission to stay stamped into your passport or 60 days if you have a tourist visa in your passport beforehand.

even if you have a tourist visa in your passport you don't have to use it straight away (it's valid for 3 months) ,

fill in the arrival card for what you want and tell the thai officials 30 or 60 days please when you hand the passport over ,

check they have used the correct stamp when you get your passport back,

depending on when your visiting the neighboring country but it sounds like a single entry tourist visa obtained from your home country before hand is ok for you (some offer postal applications).

here's your options :

30 days free + 60 day tourist visa

60 days tourist visa + 30 days free

30 days free + 18 days out of thailand + 30 days free

if you want to leave thailand somewhere around the middle of your trip option 2 is the best but you'll have to fly.

if you didn't want to leave thailand you can extend a tourist visa by 30 days instead, these are done inside thailand at one of the many immigration offices for 1900 baht.
