Work Permit

Featured Replies

Hi all, this is my first stint at a forum, it appears to be a great way to communicate and learn from each other.

Since I arrived in thailand last august I applied for work permit from a bkk company, after the initial 3 months they tried to extract 91,000 baht on top of my already paid fees, they said it was for tax, insurance etc, at that point it only legally came to 41,000 baht, to cut the story short they would not hand over my company, since then I have had bad experiences with two other thai firms and still getting nowhere except for losing more money, its turned out to be a horror story, I just need help from a decent firm who if they make errors that they will accept responsibility.

Somebody please help, or if you know someone please ask them to contact me on 0900821232

kind regards

George

Think you are going to supply further detail on what exactly you are doing, as you say you applied for a WP through a company ?...So you are working for this company ?...but then you say they wouldnt give you the company ?..

If I am reading what you have written correctly it appears you have set up a company for the express purposes of obtaining a long stay via a WP via a shelf company ?...if this is the case then the law firm concerned may in fact be correct in wanting more money out of you, ie there are monthy accountancy fees to be paid, national insurance, you will need to be paying tax on your declared salary for the WP issue etc, ie the company needs to be seen as trading otherwise you will have no WP

further you have also stated you have had "problems" with two further companies, which leads me to believe in fact it may be you who doesnt understand what is involved get obtaining a WP via this route and the monthly costs that could be involved in addtion to the legal fees you have already paid

Im sorry my friend but you read incorrectly, I tried to give a qwik outline of whats happening without boring anyone.

Since you had the time to reply I will be happy to fill you in,,,,as i stated in my first message on here ,,,,,after the initial 3 months they tried to extract 91,000 baht on top of my already paid fees, they said it was for tax, insurance etc, at that point it only legally came to 41,000 baht, to cut the story short they would not hand over my company,,,,,,the company they set up for me was in full control of their secretary even though i was director I was unable to sign for anything as i had found out later, they could not and did not send me any government copies of tax, insurance or any other fees I was liable to pay, this raised alarm bells and I spoke to my australian accountant working in thailand, he tried to discuss this matter with the visa firm and requested copies of my liabilities which the firm never sent, by my friends calculations who knows the tax law in thailand and and thai lawyer and a thai accountant the fees at that point where at 41,000 and not 91,000.

We later found out that there was an in between thai doing business with the visa company and immigration in bkk, this man to my knowledge was ripping off foreigners and is no longer able to do the work he did.

The company was meant to be a functioning company and not a shelf company, I have been legitimately trying to start a business here and trying to abide and respect your laws. If your still interested to know more about the last two professionals I would be more than happy to write back.

Since I have lived here for the last 8 months I have met some wonderful thai people, thailand is a wonderful country, but its always the case that foreigners that try and fit into another country (no matter which country and that doesn't exclude my own country) and respect and abide by that countries laws and are innocently nieve that ultimately become victims, these criminals that take advantage of foreigners can only see as far as there hand can grab money and not beyond, its these kind of nasty vermin that give a particular country a bad name, if i was in australia and seen something like that happen to a foreigner in australia I would be outraged and do everything I could to bring some justice for that victim.

I hope this puts a little light on the subject.

Kind regards

George

One of the many legal firms that advertises here maybe able to help you. If you are neat Korat, Isaan Lawyers is run by a Canadian lawyer, they are knowlegeable and reasonalby priced. Thye do not charge you to discuss things, or any problems you may have, only for the work they do on your behalf.

Can any one recommend a Law firm for company formation in Chiang Rai or Chaing Mai please
