Advice - Re-Entry Permit

Featured Replies

Hi,

just looking for some advice please! I'm British and came in on a single entry tourist visa which has been extended by 30 days so been here 80 days so far. My visa is up in a week so I need to do a visa run however I will only be back in Thailand for 3 weeks before I have to nip to the UK for a wedding.

When I got the extention in BKK, they said that I'd need to get a re-entry permit before I leave in order to get another visa. BUT looking at the hassle of getting the permit (nearest place is Koh Samui) etc I was wondering if I could grab a bus to Penang and then fly back in and get the 30 day stamp on arrival?

If I don't get a re-entry permit would this effect the 30 day stamp or not?

Looking on the net it says that there are no limits to how many stamps on arrival you can get but want to make sure my current visa situation doesn't change that!

Cheers,

Rache

A re-entry permit would not help you at all as it only keeps your current permitted to stay alive. Yes you should do as you say and return by air to get a new 30 day stay and then leave for your wedding and obtain a new visa for return if that is your plan.

All a Re Entry Permit does is protect your current permission to stay.

Nothing else.

Nothing to stop you leaving and re entering again for 15 days by land or 30 days by air.

A re-entry permit is no use for you.

Getting the bus and fly back in will indeed get you 30 days and is what you should do.
