sorry for the topic heading can mod help to change please

Could that be the newly renovated 'Mad Dog' sign?

Suttani Sut Diaw would be my guess at reading it, but no idea where it is.

The One Recipe Station ??

A picture that shows more than a tiny sign would likely be helpful.

My gf says it's a joke and doesn't exist.

I make it; ‘station good recipe noodle’…….As to where it is……..Gawd knows!

I doubt it my Thai wife says it is udon soup. What ever that is. Definitely not a Mad Dog staple.

Ah yes.. it's a letter-switch joke right? Soot' Tiow+ == Tood' Siow+?

Where do I collect my prize?

or Siow Tood.. (I can't believe I'm doing this)

Positive-ID on that, it's opened within the last month, about a mile off the main-road in Mae-Jo, behind the university.

Interesting atmosphere, decorated with antiques/old-junk (take your pick !) and reasonable prices, appears to be aimed at the now-returning students, and is owned by a family from Bangkok who used to have an antiques-business there.

Spaghetti/pork for 50B, Chang-Draft for 50B (big bottle), usual Thai-rice dishes & also noodles, hence the name.

Heading North through Mae-Jo, pass the Day-Market on your left by the 2nd foot-bridge, and take the next U-turn. Under the bridge, heading South this time, turn Left 5 meters past the bridge, down a small soi which runs between the Uni & their fish-ponds. Bear Left at the rear-entrance to the Uni, then straight ahead for 1/2 mile, the place is on the Left about 100m past the bridge over the irrigation-canal.

I don't live so far from there, Ricardo - good directions! I know where you are, roughly. So if I go over the irrigation canal heading east, the restaurant is about 100m further on, on the left? I'll give that a try, thanks.

Wow, directions in written form.. Let me savour this because in not too long textual directions will be a relic of the past, with everyone just giving a coordinate or Google Maps link.

Anyway, is this the area? : http://g.co/maps/7afrr

This is exactly the spot...only the shop is "new",so not on the picture...

We've stopped there yesterday "by accident " just to eat something and my wife spotted the sign that I've asked her about before....interesting...

I still prefer a good old fashioned map. Works every time. I could easily live without a number of high tech devices. Like the guy who posted on here that he was unable to contact his relatives while at C.M. Ram Hospital because they didn't offer free wi-fi for "Skyping" via his notebook computer! I've used a pay phone every single time I've had an emergency while in any country of the world I've been and it works every time. I guess I'm a relic from the past too - even though I've been an engineer for 35 years.

Thanks to Riccardo's great directions, I found it easily today when my wife and I went for lunch. Food was very good and reasonably priced, and the proprietors a pleasure to talk with.

I've never been to that exact location before, and was surprised to see so many westerners among the customers. Is there a district nearby where a lot of overseas residents live?

Most nearby villages have a few farangs, also I see a few wandering round the university who perhaps teach, but I suspect it's more that we like the place, and they're in their honeymoon/startup-period. I tend to be there a couple-of-times per week, myself.

We certainly need some farang gathering-place in the Mae-Jo area, Heidelberg only lasted a year before moving back to town, so current local-options IME are Mamma-Mia or Con's pizza-place.

Update, the Noodle Bar, as they seem to be calling it, was closed Sunday 29th April, and the family say that they will close alternate-Sundays in future. Hope nobody showed-up to find them closed, as we did !

Their phone-numbers are 081-905 9015 or 081-824 1161, for checking if they're open.

A lot of hoopla over a noodle shop.blink.png

I've noticed more and more farang arrivals in the Mae Jo area in the last 6 months. Seems they are showing up everywhere now. 2 years ago I could go into Mae Jo and 4 hours time maybe see one other farang.

  • 8 months later...

Too late to try it ... its now been closed for three weeks, and a friend saw the furniture being loaded-up on a truck, so looks like it's gone.

Cue song ... "Another One Bites The Dust !".

Pity because it was quite reasonable. sad.png
