Interesting development with Yingluck's PM position at risk.

That it is over false assets is no surprise, that's a shinawatra forte.

Also no surprise that the bulldog is chosen to replace the poodle.

.

Quotes Grrrrrrrr,

I suppose the perjury case has been dropped?

..

Yes, seemingly. This, however, is another issue completely separate from her perjury by saying she was the controller of nearly a Billion Baht in Shin stock in her name, which was later determined to actually be under the control of her brother.

No, this case involves her husband, Anusorn Amornchat, and a suspect loan of 30 Million Baht and is being conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), which in the midst of an on-going investigation.

If she assumes the premiership it would be an interesting situation as her husband, a premier in his own right, is still banned from politics for electoral fraud committed by the People Power Party. As First Gentleman, he'd be in a difficult position to comply. Ironically, so would Yaowapha's daughter (and Yingluck's niece) who is also riding out a five ban from politics in her own right.

As a Pheu Thai Party MP, she was disqualified and tossed out of her position in the House for...(like her Aunt Yingluck might)..... filing false asset declarations. (Shinawatra Klan Forte)

.As the only wife, husband, and daughter team of all being banned from politics (all with different political parties of Thaksin), they are unprecedented in obtaining the very difficult trifecta....

a one-off hat trick that's never occurred the annals of Thai history.

A Truly Unique Heritage

Well Done!

You'll make a swell Prime Minister, Yaowapha. Your chair awaits.

"Pheu Thai belongs to the people. It is not a private company"

Wrong! Don't these people know anything about politics? If they want a say in what PTP does, join the party. The red-shirt movement is not part of PTP and really has no say in what they do.

Yes they seem to have a very strange view of how things work. If you're not in the party your only influence is with your vote.

Why don't they just start their own political party as they seem to have so much support.

Pheua Thai belongs to Thaksin, lock, stock and barrel. Every MP has given an undated signed letter of resignation to Thaksin.

They are merely his servants.

Would 'an undated signed letter of resignation' be valid?

Now we have various leaders of the constituency district that is going to be holding a by-election to replace the resigned Santa Claus.

The Chairman of the Village Chief and Kamnan Association in San Kamphaeng district has thrown his support to the candidacy of Yaowapha. He also expressed no doubt that she would win.

The Election Commission has yet to establish a by-election date because apparently when Santa Claus resigned his MP position, he neglected to inform them and they have just now found out.

Although Santa Claus gave no explanation at the time of his resignation, Pheu Thai Party Spokesman Prompong is now saying that he quit for health reasons and that he preferred to work at a lower level than as a Member of Parliament.

Pheu Thai upbeat to win Chiang Mai by-election

The Pheu Thai Party is confident of achieving a victory for the Chiamg Mai by-election, PM's Office Minister Woravat Au-apinyakul said on Thursday, allaying the concern about a repeat of the Pathum Thani defeat last week.

"I believe the people continue to support and trust in the Pheu Thai Party," he said.

Woravat said the red shirts and local residents would rally behind the Pheu Thai candidate should the ruling party decide to nominate Kasem Nimmolrat for the by-election race.

He dismissed speculation that the red shirts were displeased with the Kasem candidacy, even though Yaowapha Wongsawat, sister of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, had given her blessing.

He said the Pheu Thai executive board was still open to accept the nominations from all sides before finalising the decision next week.

He said the by-election defeat in Pathum Thani was attributed to the miscommunication between the ruling party and the red-shirt allies, saying this would not happen again.

Quite likely they'll have a candidate to run against Yaowapha.

They ran against Yaowapha's daughter in the general election of 2011, which she won. The Dems ran a candidate again in 2012, after Yaowapha's daughter was disqualified for lying about her assets, and that's when Santa Claus won.

The two PTP wins were both by wide margins in this Shinawatra Klan enclave district.

A year later, but it's recycling as another by-election to replace the Santa Claus that just won his MP seat last year, but resigned 9 months into his term.

Either for "health reasons" OR to make way for his boss, Yaowapha, for whom he worked previously as an aide, to return to being an MP.

Thanks Buchholz hopefully the red will field a candidate too and split the PTP vote, but I doubt even then the Dems could win this seat.

The Red Shirt have not been afforded the opportunity to submit "their own candidate" to either of the elections in the Shinawatra's home turf.

It's been Yaowapha's daughter, Yaowapha's aide, and now, quite possibly, Yaowapha herself as the three candidates for the last three elections.

Personally, I see a trend in that line-up....

and despite their Sunday afternoon with the Red Shirts, I would be surprised if either of the Shinawatra sisters know much about the movement's supposed goals, etc.

Wonder what the cost was for the election. I think the bill has to be paid by the Pheu Thai party or the individual who was disqualified.

Not sure of the cost of the first by-election last year, caused by Yaowapha's daughter's disqualification, but she nor the PTP paid the cost, the taxpayers did, the same as they will for the upcoming by-election this year, caused by Yaowapha's aide's abrupt resignation. This one's cost is...

Chiang Mai by-election to cost Bt10 million: Election Commission

March 18, 2013

The upcoming by-election in Chiang Mai is expected to cost Bt10 million while the resigning politician does not have to pay for it, Election Commission member Prapun Naigowit said Monday.

However, he said the EC had already proposed changes to the law on local administration election so that an incumbent position holder who resigns before the term end should pay for the cost of by-election but the law passing is still under progress.

Difficult. One must list clear conditions for when costs for a new by-election will have to be paid by disqualified candidates or resigning members. How sick should one be to avoid paying upon resigning? Who will do the medical examination and who will be able to see the results?

For the constituency MP by-elections, perhaps the tab for the cost of election should be by the people in that constituency.

Let them be the ones to decide the validity of the person resigning or being disqualified after election.

As it is now, the only time someone other than the taxpayer pays for the election is if a winning candidate is red-carded.

Still, it would be magnanimous of the billionairess Yaowapha if she offered to cover the costs associated with both by-elections caused by her daughter's disqualification AND her aide's abrupt resignation. It's pocket change to her.

Besides, if she runs for it again, she'll get it all back within days of her being back at the trough.

I disagree. I do not think that anyone should be able to pay for a (by-)election. Especially in Thailand with corruption and paid-for influence that would set a very bad example.

PEARLS FROM PANTHONGTHAE.

Panthongtae yesterday lectured Pheu Thai politicians about the need to respect their voters. whistling.gif

Panthongthae said it was "nonsense" to accuse the party of employing "the might of money and the state power" to defeat its competitors.cheesy.gif

Panthongtae said that he did not think Pheu Thai's popularity was falling, as claimed by its rivals and critics.blink.png

This all from a veteran,seasoned PT politician.ermm.gif

Daddy's boy at his best.clap2.gif

Why doesn't he run for the Chiang Mai MP position?

I think he'd rather sit back and let the money roll in from his family's vast business empire, and play with Facebook.

It's quite funny that he, whilst not even being a politician or in any position of authority in government, can lecture politicians on what they should be doing.

Well most posters on this site do, so why not he? laugh.png

Apparently that 4th grade question is too difficult for your infant-like mind to answer. Evidently spelling a name correctly (after dozens of previous corrections and it's right in front of you as the post you are quoting) clearly exceeds that same mind.

Can you explain your babbling as to how you reached the bizarre conclusion that my post meant "the poor people should not run because they can't afford it"
