Does anyone one know what "Pu" means in Thai? just asking.

The 'p' is soft and is pronounced more like a 'b' and is means 'crab'. The 'p' as in the name Chompoo (pink) is a hard 'p'

I think you are talking about the difference between 'p' and 'ph'. 'ph', as in "Phuket", is the "hard" 'p' that requires more breathing out.

It would be simpler if her nickname was "mutt", but they are a different sort of crabs.

"He said the replacement, if happened, would unfairly impact on the quota of Cabinet seats allocated to Pheu Thai MPs from the Central Region."

In any normal country the cabinet ministers are chosen because of specific knowledge or experience, not just because they come from a specific clique.

Thaksin in particular seems to like to constantly reshuffle numerous posts meaning even if someone was actually competent at a particular job they won't be there long as the big T needs to keep some other cronies happy. Total farce as usual.

Sad state of affairs and one of many reasons Thailand seems to be going backwards. Within a very short time Cambodia, Laos and Burma can all eclipse Thailand at this rate. The country has at best stagnated over the past decade.

Well spotted.

This just about epitomises what's wrong with Thai politics. Factions looking after themselves and to hell with the country they are supposed to serve.

Crab (bpoo)

Most frequently transliterated as Poo, as in the Thai-language Matichon weekly news magazine:

.

The clue is in the name of that famous dish you see advertised in Thai restaurants all over the country..... 'Crap in the Pot'.

suspect dealings involving tens of millions of baht for both Jatuporn and Natthawut

from the Assets Of New Cabinet Ministers Announced thread:

http://www.thaivisa....ters-announced/

- Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Natthawut Saikua at 16 million baht

I wonder if the indicted Red Shirt Leader will end up having further explaining to do with his cohort Red Shirt Leaders like last time? unsure.png

I also wonder how he's lost millions of baht in assets since 2007 when he had 20 million baht in just one stockholding... ermm.gif

A Senator has unveiled a suspicious move by the former Prime Minister's Office Minister involving holding shares in a company that produced a pro-government TV show on NBT. The share-holding was not reported to the National Counter Corruption Commission.

According to the company's shareholder information as of April 30th, 2007, he said that Deputy Government Spokesman Nattawut Saikua holds 200,000 shares in the company totaling 20 million baht, while party-list MP from People Power Party, Jatuporn Promphan and a Party executive of the former Thai Rak Thai Party, Veera Musikapong hold 100,000 shares totaling ten million baht each.

Ruangkrai wondered about the source of income the three used for the share procurement valued at 30 million baht.

He added that Deputy Government Spokesman Nattawut sold 100,000 of shares worth ten million baht to former Prime Minister's Office Minister Jakrapob Penkair on June 4th, 2007.

However, in accordance with the asset declaration to the National Counter Corruption Commission, it has been discovered that Jakrapob has assets totaling nine million baht.

Ruangkrai is also suspicious about the share transfers of all the company's equity holders to other individuals during the general election period between October 31st of 2007 and January 15th of 2008.

- Thailand Outlook / 2008-08-15

Additionally found that Jatuporn's declared assets upon assuming office last year was listed at 8.2 million baht, so apparently he has also lost millions compared to the 10 million baht he held in just one of his stocks in 2008.

Chalong - Jatuporn rift healed: Yongyuth

Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit on Thursday said he had mediated and settled the conflict between two Pheu Thai MPs - Jatuporn Promphan and Chalong Raewrang.

"I talked to the two and resolved their differences since yesterday," he said.

The conflict arose after Chalong stepped forward to oppose the possible appointment of Jatuporn to the Cabinet, saying this would unfairly impact on the job quotas for MPs from the Central Region and that Jatuporn's name was mired by the lese majeste allegation.

Pheu Thai MP Chalong Raewrang has stepped out to oppose the anticipated appointment of red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan as a Cabinet member.

Chalong said Jatuporn should clear his name about his alleged offence against the monarchy before accepting his ministerial portfolio, otherwise he would become a government's time bomb.

"Prime Minister Pu should reconsider bringing Jatuporn into the Cabinet," he said, referring to PM Yingluck Shinawatra by her nickname.

Today, a different Pheu Thai MP said the opposite and backed Jatuporn for appointment to become one of the Deputy Interior Ministers as he is one of the most successful candidates for the position.

Pheu Thai MP Korkaew Pikulthong stated that if Prime Minister Pu (or Poo as it's transliterated in Post #38) wants to reshuffle the Cabinet, he would support that move as some current Cabinet Ministers are not working hard enough which causes all their work to be shifted onto Yingluck to have to deal with.

He concluded by saying there's a shortage of Deputy Interior Ministers at present with two and sometimes there's been as many as four in the past.

p.s. yes, yes, Korkaew is also a Red Shirt Leader under indictment like Jatuporn

You'd think Korkaew would be happy to have Jatuporn as a test case. If he got the needle, there would be a swag of PTP MPs looking at relocation.

Is criminal defamation enough to exclude him from a ministerial post?
