Visa Extension From Yasothon Area

Featured Replies

Hi

My brothers Irish girlfriend is looking to extend her tourist visa by 10 days.

She started off with a Triple Entry Tourist visa which she got in Ireland. This gave her 60 days by 3.

Now she is on a 30 day visa when she arrived back by plane into Bangkok on 16th April. Her passport stamp says she is entitled to stay until 15th May.

However, her flight out of Thailand is 25th May.

Therefore, we have a shortfall of 10 days.

We are going to the Yasothon Rocket Festival this weekend and were wondering whats the best way to get the extra few days.

Am I correct in saying that she just needs to do a border run (not visa run) to get an extra 15 days?

Can you recommend the best border near Yasothon/Ubon?

Does this mean she would have to get a Lao visa also?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Yes. Cross the border and enter another Country.

Turn round and come back to get another 15 days.

A Visa to Laos will be needed, cost around 1,500 Baht. Can usually be got at the border.

Someone will hopefully post the best choice of crossing.

Either the land crossing at Chong Mek in Ubon or the trip across the bridge in Mukdahan will be nearest for Yasothon.

Visa on arrival for Laos can be had at both places. US $35 or ฿1500 for the visa. Passport size photo required.
