Visa Run Over Land, Cambodia. Need Flight Ticket?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, i have an question. My visa expires on the 16th this month.

End this month i recive all the needed paperwork for my working visa.

Now my idea was to take the car, drive to the border with cambodia, poipet. Walk across the border and back. Than i get a 15day visa and can go at the end this month to phnom penh to get the new working permit.

But now i read on some sites that when you come into thailand across land you need to show an ticket to leave the country again within those 15 days.

Do you guys think this is really neccecairy? Because i think alot of backpackers travel many countries by land as well right?

Thnx for the help

There is no such requirement currently being enforced that we are aware of. It should not be a problem.

What you are mistaken with is that airlines require a ticket out within 30 days if you travel to Thailand without a visa (15 days for people who qualify for Visa On Arrival)

As said, at land borders proof of leaving Thailand within the prescribed time is not checked.
