Is Chess Club In Cm Dead?

Featured Replies

I've just discovered there is chess club in Chiang Mai and I went to The Pub yesterday but there was nobody there.

Is it dead?

Anybody play chess?

The King is not dead......It just takes everyone 2hrs to make a move. doesn't it?

I see some guys playing at the Bear Bar sometimes. I don't know if they have a club but they didn't look like they were playing too seriously and they might not mind another person joining in.

Being as facesious as ever...chess is a game for 2........you simply cant join in.

and 2 against 1 isnt fair

I have seen a couple of guys sitting in Darets, with chessboard and timeclocks on several occasions, but its not easy finding someone to play chess; as they need to be intelligent, quick thinkers and who have foresight to see 3 moves ahead whilst holding a beer.

But it would be funny to see the reaction if you approached 2 players and said "excuse me, can I join in"

The expat club used to have a chess club not sure if it is still going.

Try goggling expat club Chiang Mai. They have several different clubs all the way from dining to hiking and computers.

Actually, it's not a problem. Having one player play against multiple opponents is quite common. The top guys will even do it blindfold :omg: I also used to play a lot of Transfer, which is a team game for four and loads of fun.

As one of the guys jajohnson probably saw playing, I can quite definitively tell you that we'd be more than happy for someone to join in :-)

Well I am a top guy; so I am going to come in blindfolded; then lets see how welcome i am after i have wiped out both armies....and the beers

(comment made without prejudice)

Well, if you're going to play blindfolded, the guy I play with is in a wheelchair, I'm usually fairly drunk, so it should all be fairly even :-/
