Cannot use the VIP entry without passport as it has to be retained by the Thai side. You use photocopies for Myanmar.

My question also, gf here from the US and no passport?

Why didn't your gf from US bring her passport when she came to CM from Krabi? 'gf from US' do you mean America, or is it a contraction of some region in Thailand? If she is Thai, yes she can pass the border by showing her Thai id card. I think the op is trolling if you ask me. blink.png

Semper really? By the way manicure was loved, defo recommend for any of those in trouble with your other half.

Regarding the passport the simple fact is she forgot it.

Last time I went up to Mai Sai for alooksee was just over 20 years ago @1991 and they wouldnt let me in (no foreigners week or summit)

Anyway thought I would try again so we nipped up last Friday and No Problems.

Made an early start and found the drive almost a pleasure...20 years ago it was a dirt track.

Parked the Toyo under the bridge and Wife/Friend got a photo copy of their ID cards done...no PPs needed (day pass) but of course I got the Ha Roi Bt touch but everyone very polite (recon they have a new ad agency..Satchi ans Satchi maybe)and noticed that my pass was good for a 2 weeks stay.

Jusmped a moto taxi on the other side for a tour of the local Wats and a run around town (200Bt ..no bad )No real timefor a beer and by the time the shopping bit was done it was an easy walk back in Thailand where I got a new 90day stamp...(going home on the 2nd June)

Easy drive back with the usual pit stops and reconned it was a jolly good day out.....even after 20 plus years.

Must check google earth for the pubs....for next time
